At the XIV Summer Games, Afghanistan –a country with serious domestic problems– lost 6-0 to Luxembourg. For the first time, soccer players from Afghanistan took part in an Olympic Tournament. Film Review – X-Men Origins – Wolverine (2009)

BOTTOM LINE: Although much better than X-Men 3 in terms of story, this instalment in the franchise is a little flat and uninspiring, not going anywhere terribly interesting despite some great visuals, a handful of nice action scenes, and of course, Hugh Jackman’s solid presence. THE GOOD: The X-Men franchise took a creative u-turn with the third installment, sacrificing story for lots of noise and action in start contrast to the first two films. “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”, despite it clumsy title, has a stronger story to tell this time around in focusing on the character of Wolverine. Man on Wire DVD Review

During the early hours of August 7, 1974 Frenchman Philippe Petit and a small team of his countrymen, a New Yorker and an Australian were putting the final logistics together of a coup he had aspired to for ten years – to walk on a tightrope between the twin towers of the Word Trade Center. This was obviously no mean feat. Not only did Petit and his friends have to negotiate their way (without getting caught) through security, over 100 flights of stairs and nagging doubts that their goal might prove impossible but they also had to consider the very real fact that should things not go to plan Petit might plunge hundreds of meters to his death.
