Just how well do you know Jordin Sparks? I’ve been hearing how it may be unfair for Melinda Doolittle to win, since she has such an unfair advantage over the other participants because she is a professional singer. They are wrong. Musicians and singers do not have an easy time finding a gig . Anything that could make life easier for them, they should definitely do.
For those of you who don’t know, she has an “album” out and another that was put on the back burner becuase of her being on American Idol. let’s start at the very beginning, shall we? Jordin was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. Her father is Phillippi Sparks who used to be a New York Giants NFL player, and he also played with the Dallas Cowboys. Her mom is Jodi Wiedmann, she has a younger brother, Phillipi Sparks Jr. and her aunt Shari is a model and an actress.
Shari Who? Shari Wiedmann. She’s appeared in the feature film Scarlett Cross M.C. as Mrs. Montague, which will be released July this year. Anyway, this is all about Jordin. She actually won Arizona Idol before going on American idol. Mmmhmm. Last year, Jordin won a spot on the “Next Plus Size Model” for Phoenix Torrid. She did a lot of ads for them. One full-page ad was in the December issue of Seventeen magazine last year.
Jordin also was a part of the Music in the Rockies competition, in 2004. Music In the Rockies has to do with contemporary christian music. She came in second place. In that same year, she was in America’s Most Talented Kids. The girl was in that twice-that’s right, twice, and finished in first place the first time. Before that in 2003 she was in American Juniors and Star Search. She has performed the National Anthem at many sport events, one of which was the Arizona Cardinals.
When she was 13 she recorded For Now, a five song record. Matthew Ward, a Christian music artist, and Gary Leach who worked with Leann Rimes worked with her. She was on Alice Coopers Christmas show in 2004, and toured twice with Micheal W. Smith, a contemporary Christian artist. Smith gets his fans to vote for Jordin on his website.
Jordin is also an actress. She’s been in many plays, including a dual role as Deborah and Bea in Magdalene in Tenessee at the Plumbline Theater. Other plays were The Wiz, and Cinderella. She has also won many, awards, some of which are: Coca Cola Rising Star, in 2002, and The Gospel Music Association Country and Southern Gospel First Place Winner in 2004. I could go on, and on about Jordin. The girl is not an unknown as many would believe, but she has been working at a professional career for a very long time.
So far, every week she has been safe. Out of all her performances, I think that the weakest one was last weeks “Livin’ On A Prayer” by Bon Jovi. I’m a Bon Jovi fan, and sometimes her pitch was a little off. It wasn’t a good song choice for her range. Still, I was surprised that she wasn’t in the bottom two. People like her-most likely the people out there who already were fans before she appeared on American Idol. I kind of knew that she would win.
