I have run into some curious notions about biometric security of late. For those that don’t know there has been major attacks on Twitter. Someone was the hacking of some high profile accounts. It is questionable the actual damage done the damage done, the damage to anyone psyche when something like this happens is high, no matter how famous you are. I know some of the ways this could have been caused and quite a few others that could have pretty well prevented it. One of the ways it could have been prevented was with a simply fingerprint scanner. While these aren’t really practical for some of the small gadgets we go online with, they are quite inexpensive and easy to install via a USB cable on most home computers. As my son gets older and more and more in need of computer time, I keep thinking I am going to get one that would either allow him to unlock his account only on the main computers or if I decide to get him one in his room a scanner that would only let the computer come on if me or his mom provide a thumb. It is a simple $40.00 device that can be used for everything from accessing the computer to enhancing password security.
That said I was also looking at adding a fingerprint lock to the house at least on the front door. Liam is getting to a point where he take care of himself for a few a little while, but I am not sure I trust him with a key yet. A fingerprint lock would not only allow him access to the front door in case I would be out with the baby and not able to get home right away, but it seem like it would sure beat fumbling with my keys while I have arm loads of groceries. Has anyone else installed either a physical fingerprint lock or use one for their computers?
