Where were you? I was standing in the Dollar General in Xenia, OH when I heard the news over the radio of the first plane. I was on my way home when I heard about the second plane on NPR. I knew immediately that this wasn’t a tragic accident. As much as no one wants to admit it, this was an act we brought upon ourselves for sixty years of meddling in Middle East politics and Islamic power plays. I don’t condone the act or say we deserved it, but I cannot and will not say we as a country were simply innocent bystanders.I fear for us as a country, because we have not seen the last of these attacks. We can’t keep our noses out of other people’s business. My eight years olds grandchildren will be paying for the actions we have taken in Iraq and Afghanistan. By deposing the accepted leaders of these countries we have said it is okay to simply go in and remove a leader because we are unhappy with them. Will anyone remember we eliminated Saddam or the Taliban because we were unhappy with them, when Islamacist or some home grown nut job with a grievance gets around to assassinating our president? I think not. Don’t think for a minute that it will be a subtle attack either. Someone will walk up to them with bombs strapped to their chest repeatedly until they get him. We don’t deserve this, but neither do the people we label as collateral damage.
