LAND O’ LAKES, Fla. (AP) — A nudist community on Florida’s west coast wants to be allowed a clothing-optional polling site.

The Caliente Resorts, located in Pasco County north of Tampa, has approached election officials about the idea.

Nothing in state law would prohibit it, but the supervisor of elections says he is opposed to creating any new precincts before redistricting in 2010.

Nudity is almost as big of a taboo in the United States as incest.  This is an unfortunate situation.  I find myself wondering how as a people we can call ourselves enlightened when the simplest of things is hush hush and dirty.  I know it tied to the puritanical ways of our ancestors who came to this country to hide from crazy European sex, but it is we give up our prudish ways.  it is time we stop thinking of nudity, the very form the God of Christians let infants be born with, as a taboo.  It isn’t like I am advocating that we be allowed to make love to more than one woman at a time or stop having to learn her name.  Nudity is what it is, our body, and if we truly believe that we own it we shouldn’t be afraid to go around in it, clothed or unclothed.

The 10th annual Naked Pumpkin Run in Boulder turned rowdy, as police began ticketing some participants for indecent exposure late Friday night and hundreds of other costumed revelers started chanting “Let them go!” and telling officers to “find real criminals.”

A man in a red cape and sword climbed the pinnacle in front of the Boulder County Courthouse on the Pearl Street Mall, leading the chant with his sword.

About a dozen people were ticketed shortly after the crowd started its Halloween run at 10:45 p.m.

The group of runners, who annually shed their clothes and streak Pearl Street wearing only pumpkins over their heads, was huge this year — and that was part of the concern for police, who have rarely ticketed runners in other years.

“We wanted to do something before (the event) got out of hand,” said Police Chief Mark Beckner. “This was a good opportunity to enforce the law.”

In past years, police haven’t had the staffing levels to ticket the runners, Beckner said, but this year the Halloween run fell on a Friday when a lot of officers were scheduled to work. Beckner likened streaking to speeding — police can’t catch them all, but they do what they can.

This year’s streakers were a diverse group — young and old, who were costumed as vixens and nuns, ghosts and witches earlier in the night. Veteran runners were handing out a few useful tips to the newbies in the backyard of a house on Grove Street before the run.

The inside of a freshly gutted pumpkin is slimy, and the squash helmet is bound to slide around on a runner’s hair.

“Handles are the most important thing in pumpkin running,” said a second-year runner who preferred not to identify himself.

You also need visibility, said the man, who had carved his jack-o-lantern upside-down so he could peek out of the wide mouth as he ran.

Others aren’t so modest — with their bodies or their names.

“This is my second time; it’s so liberating,” said Jill Fountain. “It’s a whole bunch of people taking off their clothes. It’s like making fun of being nude.”

Shortly after 10 p.m., a Norseman (who appeared to be one of the leaders) started to rally the troops. You must have a trash bag for your clothes if you run, he told the crowd. And most important, don’t throw away your pumpkin — this is Boulder, after all.

“We are composting the pumpkins,” he yelled. “Await further instructions after the run.”

Though police haven’t typically busted up the naked fun run, city officials did warn the public earlier this week that tickets weren’t out of the question.

Vet: Six-legged deer soon to have four legs

A six-legged deer found in Rome that captured the interest of the nation is about to become much more normal.

According to veterinarian Dan Pate with West Rome Animal Clinic — who cared for the deer after it was attacked by dogs — the animal is undergoing surgery today to remove its two inner rear legs.

The deer, nicknamed Spyder, is under the care of an Athens-area wild life rehabilitator.

Pate said the surgery is being performed by Dr. Tim Crowe, a former professor at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine.

The deer used a leg from each of its two pelvises to walk, so today’s procedure involves taking a leg from each pelvis.

It’s not yet known whether the surgery will allow the deer to be released into the wild.

With everything those crazy Floridans have been pulling I am not sure one message here is a bad thing. Melting Glaciers = What’s The Big Deal - Florida actually sounds pretty good, Of course Floridans being who they are always wanting government intervention to save them from the evils of the world will no doubt demand flood walls built across the entire state. When that is not enough I can see the religious nut jobs finally turning back to prayer rather than the little Dutch boy putting his finger over the leak. I actually can’t wait until they have Christian thinking they can fight the tide of change by sticking their fingers into the dripping holes of dykes.

The next laughable message is for Hillary Clinton. Denial = What I Think - The Facts. Enough said!

Fact in Idaho a 10 year old girl gives birth. Fact she was the victim of statutory rape maybe as young as nine. Fact the man involved is 37. Fact he is an illegal alien. Instead of this case being about the poor girl and her baby, this case is sensationalized to be about an “Illegal Aliens Raping Little Girls”

This case is wrongly put in a light that says foreign people are horrible monsters, but does nothing to draw any attention to the medical or social facts surrounding the case. There are some reports (from unnamed sources mind you so I will not give them the credibility of providing links) that say this girl “dressed like a whore”, “flaunted her wares at older men”, and “went as far as begging men to let her spend time at their homes”. I can’t confirm these, but that isn’t the point. If this was happening why didn’t anyone speak up?

A few reasons no one said a word was probably the fear of deportation or bringing in outsiders to the immigrant community. I am sure a number of people said to themselves I know what is going on, I am sorry about it, but I have to protect my own family. We need these people to be here and work, but since there is too many good political bullet points, no one is willing to take one for the team and say, we need them and more if our economy is going to survive long term.

Another reason is how we have sexualized our young girls. Miley Cyrus’s bare back is nothing compared to the marketing campaigns and trend happy mothers that will put their no hip toddlers in low cut jeans and thongs or buying their preteen the high cut skirt and thinking the current commando fad for girls that age is cute. We sexualize these girls, but never bother to talk to them about sex. Oh sometimes we get into tizzies and scream don’t have it. We never talk to them about sex, relationships, or much important in life for that matter.

In the end the story of this girl and everything she went through is going to be lost because we start the conversation off by shouting, “Illegal Immigrants Are Child Rapists!”

We have finally gotten rid of the Olympic torch and Bong Hits For Jesus has once again made its way to the background, when what should happen but another school censorship case lands in the federal courts. While Some of the federal courts have decided it is fine to censor a drug message with the saviors image attached to it, even thought Israeli scientists have concluded Moses was in fact stoned probably the entire way trip out of Egypt. Back to the point at hand. While one federal courts says no to Jesus and Buddah, another one says a Chicago area school can’t ban a students from wearing anti-gay t-shirts. With this verdict from Chicago the count is one for the Savior, one for Leviticus, and one for the big gay love affair the government has for campaign contributing Christiandom.

Personally to challenge the courts decision I would like to see some students wear shirts shirts advising people to follow Deuteronomy 22 “But if this charge is true, and evidence of the girl’s virginity is not found, they shall bring the girl to the entrance of her father’s house and there her townsmen shall stone her to death, because she committed a crime against Israel by her unchasteness in her father’s house. Thus shall you purge the evil from your midst.” While I am sure some of the judges appointed by this administration would happily advocate this, they would have a lot harder time with defending it in the media.
