A company values numbers while the employees value being appreciated. Finding a balance between the range of views in a company may aide companies staying in America and employees staying in companies. It is a two way street, however. The company needs to show as much value to the employee as they do to the customer. Meanwhile, the employee needs to show they value themselves from the inside, out. Continue reading →

Job cuts. Budget cuts. Increased tuition at colleges. Down-sizing. Inflation. Foreclosures. Debt. It seems now that the working market is declining with higher unemployment rates, fewer jobs for graduates to enter into out of school, and budget cuts left and right. We have major companies leaving our country to go elsewhere. And while the receiving country’s employees are grateful, it’s just another avenue blocked for American workers.

This problem comes down to basically two issues. Never mind the money problems, the economy, or debt. It’s about attitude. One issue is the company’s attitude. It’s actually very elementary. If we break a company down into three basic parts, we see that the answers lie therein.

Let’s look at ABC Company. Now, current college or high school graduate Z wants to go work at ABC company. Z is hired in an entry level position like most company’s function. Z has a supervisor, we’ll call mid manager N. Mid manager N’s job is to act as the go-between from top manager, we’ll name CEO, and entry folks like Z. Now, Z is looking at the company from the ground upward. Z is trying to figure out where Z can go in one, five, or ten years. Z, her/himself, wants to see what attributes Z brings to the company which can help Z to reach Z’s goal. And, Z wants job satisfaction. Z wants to know that the output is being appreciated, valued, and that there are opportunities. And over the generations of workers in the workforce today (four generations), today’s most recent generation has a bit more of an “I need to see how I fit before I function” mentality.

Now this is an issue for most companies who tend to be run by CEO’s of older generations. In addition, CEOs are looking at numbers and not people. They are attempting to meet quotas and dollars and figures and profits. So that leaves middle management N to be the go-between of dollars and people. The CEO wants N to motivate the Zs to bring up the numbers and the Zs want N to encourage them as if the company cared about the output. It’s a tough place for N because N’s everywhere are being told that the numbers are being met, fix it while the entry folks are saying, N, I’m not feeling valued here, where’s my value?

So we see that the company itself has some bending to do in an effort to meet the needs of the workforce in terms of value. Most companies value customers; trying for good customer service, marketing to draw customers to them because customers and money and numbers are in line with each other typically. Now, companies are willing to give training session after training session to its employees on listening to the customer, finding the customers wants and needs, and trying to fit the product to meet those needs. So the logical question here is, why aren’t the companies doing the same for its employees? If the customer is valued and the employee is not, then how is the employee supposed to extend that gratitude when it feels none? That should be the first clue to companies having issues with employee retention, turn over, satisfaction, and numbers.

This being said, part two of the equation is the employees themselves. We are in a generation where the employee wants to see the satisfaction and the what- can- you- do- for- me at the front door before being employed. Other generations have tended to focus on loyalty and pride as motivators. Employees of today should consider a bit more give and take. Today’s generation feels like they have to go out and demand things. They feel they are snubbed by older generations and some don’t even care. Their motivations are not yet on the future though are much more focused on the now.

The other thing today’s generation is doing is looking outside of themselves for their internal satisfaction. Regardless of the reason for this, today’s generation has an opportunity to learn something that took generations before it years to learn: that satisfaction of any kind comes from the inside first. When the attitude is coming inside out, the possibilities are endless. If today’s generation were to ask some of their peers who have succeeded in the world or could talk to some of their idols, the answers would be similar: the motivations, the strength, and the power comes from inside.

An idea is formed and the person has gone out there and implemented it with energy, intensity, and desire stemming from the heart, plans from the mind, and determination from the gut. None of these things are outside of anyone. Then, with these tools, the person succeeds on the outside and is rewarded for their efforts with whatever it is they were desiring. Maybe they stumbled or ran into a roadblock. Their inner determination set them back on the path again. Again, inner determination.

Imagine now, if you will, employee Z entering a company with an internal will of succeeding. That attitude is reflected onto Z’s customers because Z’s attitude of confidence is influential to the customer; they feel valued by the confidence of Zs conviction. They don’t have to know why. They don’t have to know Z wants success. They are inspired by Z’s energy and confidence. The company sees improved numbers and recognizes that it’s the Z’s of the company who got those numbers up with the encouragement of the N’s. it’s a rounded company with satisfaction at all levels! It’s more than do-able. It’s more than possible with a bit of give and take. And we can see it all happening right here in the United States of America!

KISS is a popular American band present since 1970s. Though not everyone is fond of listening to rock music, many people are immersed by the costumes the rock band members used. This Halloween, KISS costumes will be a huge hit. If you plan to go to the party along with your family or friends, then KISS Halloween costumes are definitely the way to go. Scary outfits are still going to show up this season but why not try something different? Yes, something that can grab the audience’s interest. Well, it isn’t impossible because the KISS costumes are now available on local shops and online stores. Let the party start and end with rock ‘n roll music. Slam, head bang and enjoy yourself this Halloween celebration with these superb outfits.

Dress yourself with the most exceptional costume

You might have the idea that getting costume this Halloween is just a waste of money and effort. Would you think so? There are craps and recycled objects that you can gather to create your own costume. But then, try to imagine how the crowd would react upon seeing you at the party. Not to disappoint you but most recycled outfits appear pretty ugly. Why not try something cool? What about a rock star demon look? KISS costume is a bit rugged in comparison with other costumes. You’ll also enjoy the cool black in white color upon wearing it.

There are four characters that you could opt to impersonate this Halloween season like Gene Simmons “The Demon” Ace “The Space Man” Frehly, Peter “The Catman”Criss and Paul “The Star Child” Stanley. But among the characters, Gene “The Demon” Simmons is the most controversial band member not only because of his killer rock voice but additionally because of his long devil tongue that definitely amazed the fans. You too can dress like your idol. Anyone can even older people. Gene Simmons costume is available in a black plus size with matching high-heeled boots and metal spikes. However The Demon will not be the Demon without the white face paint and tribal tint on the eyes. You may also consider the wig, the trimmings and the makeup to make the look more realistic.

KISS outfits are suited to both teens and adults. Yet there are also sizes that are available for toddlers. You may think these costumes may harm to children but actually no. These are generally comfortable and safe to wear. And unlike costumes for adults, KISS costumes for toddlers do not contain dangling objects.

KISS Halloween costumes are surely popular options for this year’s bash. Now if you are planning to get one, you should hurry up and don’t wait till the costumes get out of stock. Halloween is not just a simple celebration. In fact it’s the most exciting holiday. Go shopping now and become the rock star demon.

Lowest prices ever on KISS Halloween Costumes, grab yours now while they last at http://www.halloweencostumesparty.info/.

There are purists and then there are innovators; purists chose to stick with the original Jujutsu from Japan, whereas people elsewhere took this sport and modified it into a fiercely competitive sport, today known as the BJJ or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The BJJ is also a form of martial arts but has it reigns in the top class ground fighting. It was realized that fighters needed to be agile and nimble and at the same time be able to ‘grab’ their opponent and disable their movements – this gave rise to the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

It is a form of MMA – mixed martial arts but has its origin in ‘fighter families’ in Brazil who have further laid down rules and regulations for it to become a major sport. Now, when it is has become a sport, many stars have come into the fore – the topmost being the legendary BJJ fighter – Andre Galvao.

Andre Galvao

From 2001 to 2008 of the IBJJF World Jiu-Jitsu Championship he has won a record 7 Golds, 2 Silvers and 1 Bronze! What’s more – he is the undisputed champion in the Pan American Championships. He has won 7 Golds in total and has never been beaten in the tournament! Obviously he a master at grappling and flooring people (quite literally)!

Andre Galvao Drill to Win

For people who look up to him as an inspiration, he has been messiah of sorts for them. He has penned down a book with his dear friend – Kevin Howell. Perhaps it was the book that made Andre a world renowned figure rather than his enviable track record at BJJ championships and tournaments. Sadly enough, people did not know him (thanks to the absence of the sport in Olympics and other major tournaments), but he defied all ignorance and came out a winner of sorts with his book – Drill to Win.

Since the day of its release, the book is a major hit and was one of the bestsellers in the category of Sports Writing. The lucid language and inspirational stories in the book motivated people and youngsters to take up the sports. Interestingly, those who had nothing to do with the book would yet buy it owing to its motivational tone! Andre has a Jiu Jitsu academy; therefore when he is not fighting in tournaments, he is fighting and training at home and imparting training to many youngsters who idolize him!

Rightly as the man mentions in his book – ’12 months to better BJJ’ – it truly is a piece of art. If one ditto followed what he wrote in the book, undoubtedly he would better his BJJ skills in 12 months flat. This book is as good for the advanced fighters as is for the beginners. Further on flipping the pages, you will find a step by step guide to how-to-achieve, etc and pictorial representations of the same.

From mastering grapples to locks – you now have everything under a book about BJJ here. And what better than to learn it from Andre Galvao himself?

Steroids allowed in professional sports? To quote John McEnroe, You cannot be serious!

I think this is what Americans might call a no-brainer. The fact that no-one has written on the yes side of this debate, certainly up to now, gladdens the heart. How 18% of voters can think yes, I cannot imagine.

The very fact that this debate topic can be taken seriously speaks volumes for the state of professional sports in the world. I am coming to the conclusion that there should be no such thing as professional sports, and that the two words should be considered mutually exclusive.

A sport always used to be fun. It provided a way to compete against others in a way which was mutually beneficial from a fitness point of view and from an enjoyment point of view. The introduction of money into the arena has changed sports for ever.

Steroids are dangerous and there is a list of side effects as long as your overdeveloped arm, some of them potentially dangerous. Why should someone wish to risk a potentially serious side-effect? For money and glory, in that order.

I should think that everyone knows by now that steroids can assist in the development of muscles, and anyone involved in certain types of sport may be tempted to use them in order to improve their performance. But in order to make this decision a sportsman or woman has to be totally without conscience – prepared to go to any length in order to beat an opponent or win a medal. This is not sport, it is obsession and it is fuelled to an extent by the potential financial gain in most sports these days.

Some performers have been led to offer heart-rending apologies for their past steroid use, but the damage is already done. Their past performances and reputation are forever tainted. Children who modelled themselves on these idols have been disillusioned. Sponsors have been let down, and could perhaps be forgiven for asking for their money back. Why not? No sponsor is likely to have offered financial support to a person who is breaking one of the cardinal rules of sports – illegal use of substances and therefore cheating.

However, despite all these strong feelings, the governing bodies of sports remain forgiving. Sportsmen and women who are proven to have used substances for performance enhancement are only banned temporarily. What sort of message does this send to other sports people and to children and young people? It is clearly worth taking and using substances, as even if caught, there is only going to be short ban imposed. And of course great lengths are taken to avoid the detection of illegal usage.

If sport is to remain what its name implies, sporting, drug use has to be totally banned at all levels, and all users banned for life, whatever their level of performance and prior achievements.

A complete zero tolerance attitude is required. Tests should be carried out on all competitors, particularly winners, at all levels of sport, and a life ban should be imposed on any proved to have used substances, particularly steroids. If there is a risk of losing a whole career, perhaps people might think twice.

But don’t just ban the sports people, ban the doctors and others who recommend steroids. The pushers of illegal drug use in sports should be banned from sports participation and risk losing their license to practice.

There can be no half measures. Taking steroids in any sports, not just professional sports, is unacceptable and must be stamped out by whatever means.

One of the stalwarts of the heavy metal rock scene is Sepultura who was formed in 1984 in Belo Horizonte in Brazil. There are now 11 Sepultura albums released to date. The band’s music has been categorized as death metal, thrash metal, and groove metal.

Musical Inspiration

The band had listed some of the great names in metal rock as their inspiration, namely Led Zepellin, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, AC/DC, and Deep Purple.

The Band’s History

Sepultura has had a number of band members, but among those that belonged during its early existence was Paulo Jr., Jairo Guedez, and the brothers Max and Igor Cavalera. In 1985 they released their first LP titled Bestial Devastation. It was soon followed by their very own record, Morbid Visions. It included their first major hit, “Troops of Doom”.

Morbid Visions was not technically at par with other commercially made records. The songs were poorly produced and even the band members had claimed that they forgot to tune their guitars during the recording sessions. Nevertheless the album was notable for being the entry of Sepultura to mainstream meda and to the consciousness and awareness of a much larger heavy metal audience.

After the release of their debut album, Jairo Guedez left the band and was soon replaced at lead guitar by Andreas Kisser. It was then that second of the Sepultura albums was released. They titled it Schizophrenia.

While Morbid Visions was more of a death metal album, Schizophrenia falls under the thrash metal category. The album found its way to Europe where it was heavily bootlegged. It was also during this time that Sepultura was trying to make it into the American heavy metal crowd by sending copies of their albums to various radio stations.

By the time their third album, Beneath the Remains, was released the band had already gained some popularity. They then embarked on their first international tour across the United States, Mexico, and Germany. It was during this tour that they met their music idols such as Metallica and Motorhead.

Their fourth album, Arise, was the first to make it to the Billboard 200 charts ranking at no. 119. By this time Sepultura was already recognized as the top band in the death metal and thrash metal scene.

However, the band was starting to experiment with other musical styles. With the fifth of the Sepultura albums, Chaos A.D., their music became more of hardcore punk. The album was released in 1993. This variation from death and thrash metal continued with their sixth album, Roots, which included some elements of the musical styles of the indigenous people of Brazil.

In 1996 Max Cavalera left the band with no statements as to the reason why he did so. Some years later his brother Igor also left Sepultura citing artistic incompatibility. Each of the Cavalera brothers had formed their own bands and are still actively playing and recording.

Sepultura’s other albums include Against, Nation, Roorback, Dante XXI, and A-Lex with each release helping in cementing the role and contribution of Sepultura to the heavy metal rock scene.

While the Philippines is blessed with an abundance of beaches and islands, there holds a special charm in the docks of Puerto Galera. Hundreds flock every year to this place, and while it has its pluses and minuses in comparison to other Philippine destinations, it remains and enjoyable trip nonetheless.

The gem that is Puerto Galera in Sabang Mindanao is considered one of the most developed beach destinations in the Philippines. What started out as a backyard tourism spot 160 miles away form Manila quickly became a mecca for mainlanders. The isle is easily accessible with trips coming in almost at any hour. As a result, it becomes to weary vacationers what fast-food is to hungry workers- a quick, easy and satisfying fix to de-stress.

Foreigners really love the island. Since the 70′s, they have been in and out of the lush paradise. Some of them failed to resist the temptation of the tropics, so they stayed, making the first seeds of an expatriate community. Every year handfuls and handfuls of foreigners, form American to Koreans discover the island, due to its ease of access and popularity.

Coming to Puerto Galera by yacht, boat ferry or private means, one is greeted by a a colorful beach in the morning or a lit and happening place by night. The beaches are famous for the line of bars and party places that are only a few steps away. The nights, especially weekend nights, are opened up by hip and chic places offering not only drinks, dances on the beach and restaurants but also exhibition shows like fire eaters, fire dancers and even promotional events.

The life in Puerto Galera is comfortably familiar to the average person but still remains the perfect travel destination. In the morning, bars turn into cafes and brunch restaurants, energizing early wakers and soothing all-nighters. Come noon to afternoon, the freshest catch of the day turns into sumptuous lunches- tuna, blue marlin, prawns and crabs. Sunbathers are everywhere, while the boat ferries come and go.

Come nightfall, the party starts again. Beach raves are common, side by side with beach walkers, star gazers, night picnics and again full restaurants. There is something for everybody. For the quiet types, there are the beaches at night. For party-goers, options are non-stop til morning. For morning persons, one can stay and sleep in quaint rented rooms or villas.

There are also famous hiking trails for those who wants to work up a sweat. Banana boat rides, diving and snorkeling are available and guides are inexhaustible. Water is seriously the best attraction. The beach itself are white by morning, the water near the shores are clear enough to see through. You don’t even need to ride a boat to find some amazing underwater views; within a kilometer from the shores, you can see lion fish, Moorish idols, frog fish and leaf fish. The Verde Island Passage is a deep clear water, just one of the many sites near here. A fantastic variety of underwater flora and fauna awaits even in the not so best season.

Backpackers can pitch tents and meet other tent lovers. One can lie on the sand til morning and sip wine, talk and meet people. Indeed, Puerto Galera is a place to meet a lot of people, or shrink away to find solace in a secluded spot. Nature takes you under its wing, while the other wing that is progress and comfort fans you.
