Buhler High School Spanish, Italian teacher honored for classes that use modern devices, Internet to instruct.

Marilyn Bolton’s classes at Buhler High School are on the cutting edge of technology.
Bolton, who teaches Spanish and Italian, admits there are not many classrooms where students hear the teacher say, “OK kids, get out your cell phones.”
Students in Bolton’s foreign language classes often do their homework via “podcasts,” or digital audio recordings that can be downloaded onto the Internet.
The students can use their cell phones or home phones to record themselves speaking in Spanish, Bolton said, and they can post their recordings on the Internet. Then, Bolton can listen online to the students’ conversational Spanish homework assignments.
The digital approach to language is something I have been a fan of for some time. It is not only great for foreign language teaching but other language studies too. My hats go off to any teacher who can use the resources available to them.
Not only is this method good for this teacher it could easily be expanded to smaller districts short on language instruction. Imagine phoning in not only a conversational Spanish language lesson, but an oratory for speech class, or uploading a musical recording. This method has far reaching possibilities. Check up through out the week on new posts in my series on language arts.

Well, that’s a great news. If the schools use modern devices and Internet for teaching, that’s a good condition for the students to study. Those schools will be highly appreciated.
