Sorry I missed NY/Puerto Rico, but fussy baby what can you do? So it’s Hollweird, or as I’ve heard it called, Hell Week, which ironically doesn’t last a week. Hopefully we’ll get more of those who only got 30 seconds during the audition rounds. 147 start out, 36 will go to the semi-finals before we get to the final 12. Who will be the next American Idol?

They get to audition in the Kodiak Theatre, where the finals have been held previously. Some beginning words from Simon and then a bit about Idol Boot Camp. And mentor BARRY MANILOW!!!!

They get on stage in groups of 8, each perform and then its in or out.

Lil Rounds belts out Whitney. Damn. Kara calls her bold and brave.

Dennis Richmond. I don’t like him so much here. Simon calls him out on his facial expressions.

Lil gets through, Dennis is not. Five of them were not good enough for the judges. Dennis berates the judges. Not a good way to make an impression.

Nathaniel Marshall. I like his voice. Judges aren’t too impressed with his song choice. And he breaks down.

Anoop Desai. I really love Anoop’s voice.

Jasmine Murray. I love the dress she’s wearing. And sounding good.

Rose Flack. Her rehearsals didn’t go well. She should be doing it for herself not her parents. She’s got this rough quality that I really love.

The entire group goes through. Wow.

Vaugh Smith aka Shouty McShouterson.He continues to shout not sing. He’s got pipes but he doesn’t use them well. Simon calls it indulgent.

Stephen Fowler. Paula says he nailed it. Randy says he slayed it.

Jorge Nunez. Paula says it was beautiful.

All three get through. Vaughn takes it with a grain of salt.

Nick Mitchell aka Normal Gentle. Kara said he probably didn’t have a chance in hell, we’ll see. He had a good voice why is he doing the theatrics? He gets through.

Scott McIntyire (blind guy) and Frankie Jordan also got through.

Jackie Tohn. She reminds me of Amanda fromlast season with her raspy voice. She makes it.

Montage of friends being made and having to say goodbye.

Danny and Jemar made it here as best friends, will they stay that way?

Jemar Rodgers. Uses the same song he auditioned with. Randy is a fan.

Danny Gokey. I’m not really buying it here. There’s something that just off. Paula loves him.

They both get through.

Katrina Darrell aka Bikini Girl. Macking on Ryan again. She doesn’t have the voice. I’m sorry. Simon! You’re better than this. If she makes it through….and she does.

Jessica Furney, Sharon Wilbur, and Patricia Roman didn’t make it.

Jeremy Michael Sarver, the roughneck. Randy says it was better than the audition. He makes it!

David Osmond. Erika Weslin.

Emily Hughes choses to sing a song she didn’t rehearse.

David and Emily go through. Erika wants another chance. But fighting with them is not a good way to go about it. Maybe she can re-audition next year.

Alexis Grace, Anne Marie Boskovitch and two other favorites get through.
