Missy Higgins – A Musical Review

[ad]Missy Higgins has a haunting new song in Where I Stood. The simple melody gets into your soul. If you have ever been madly in love and stop to listen to the lyrics be straight, gay, or otherwise they will strike a chord with you too.

Once described as “…the antithesis of the manufactured pop starlet…” Missy sits fine in my view of Australian Indie Music. One of the things I love most of her music is the fact she still has her accent when she sings. I hear her know without a doubt that she is Australian. While I am sure some will mistake the origin of her accent, that doesn’t matter. The fact it hasn’t been removed during in a million dollars of overproducing makes this music real for me.

You can listen to Missy’s latest album On a Clear Night, which includes Where I Stood on her website: www.missyhiggins.com I couldn’t find a bad track on the entire album and will soon be ordering a copy for myself.

Below are several YouTube clips of other songs of her from previous releases. They are great and deserve a listen. Once you do I think you be as smitten as I am.

Don’t Ever is set to a Fan Vid, but it really hits the meaning of the song.

Scar is a little more upbeat and bouncy of a tune but still great
