SAG Strike Possible TV Spoilers Other Odds and Ends

What’s Hot is ready to go today! Spoilers for today include Smallville, Lost and Supernatural, so reader take caution.

Not so long ago, I blogged about the potential for an actors strike, saying that any decision would have to wait unitl the aftermath of SAG board elections. Well, it seems that the wait is over. Yesterday, the Screen Actors Guild’s negotiating committee issued a recommendation that its National Board call for a strike authorization vote from the 120,000 members. The union cannot walk the picket line until a majority of its members say it is okay. The National Board is set to meet Oct. 18. An actors strike so soon after the writer’s strike is a risky venture that could devastate the economy in and around Los Angeles. This blogger is certainly hoping that all can be resolved because a lot of shows suffered when the writer’s walked out, it will be worse if the actors go.

Spoilers today come from TV Guide’s Matt Webb Mitovich and Mickey O’ Connor. Lost’s Michael Emmerson on Ben’s mission for the upcoming season; “Ben’s mission has changed, time has passed, he has different resources… and he moves around a lot.” He also hinted at an upcoming scene with Desmond, which could mean that Desmond is returning. In Smallville news, there is going to be an upcoming kiss between Clark and Chloe! Alas it is going to be a flashback and the characters are going to be much younger. “I saw them shooting that scene the other day, and it was adorable. Adorable,” said Allison Mack. And finally on Supernatural, wonder what happened to Ruby between the seasons and why she’s much nicer all of a sudden? Eric Kripke reveals all; “One reason she’s nicer is because she spent a few weeks in a particularly nasty corner of Hell, being punished by Lilith’s minions. That would humble just about anyone. As to whether Ruby is hiding some ulterior motive….tune in to find out.”

Last thing on the agenda for today, various tidbits from around the web. Rosie O’Donnell is going to be on TV again.  She has inked a deal with NBC to headline an hour-long variety show/backdoor pilot to air live in prime time on Thanksgiving eve, Nov. 26. Appropriately titled Rosie’s Variety Hour, the special will kick off with a monologue, feature celebrity guests, musical acts, comedy skits, and a “giant” giveaway for both the in-studio and home audiences. American Idol runner up David Archuleta is making his television debut on Nickolodean’s  iCarly. He’ll be playing himself of course and the episode will air next spring. Fox, on the basis of solid ratings, has ordered a full season for J.J. Abrams’ new show Fringe. So all you Joshua Jackson fans rejoice! Lastly, sad news, House Peters Jr., a TV actor who became the original Mr. Clean on Proctor & Gamble’s commercials for household cleaners, died Wednesday. He was 92. Peters died of pneumonia at the Motion Picture and Television Fund Hospital in Los Angeles.
