BOTTOM LINE: “W.” is Oliver Stone without teeth. There are no left-wing jibes at one of the most controversial US Presidents in history, nor is there much fair or three-dimensional exploration in to the character of George W. Bush. Instead, we are left with a film that could have been ninety minutes long instead of two+ hours and still covered the same ground.

THE GOOD: A film about the President you can have a beer with seemed like a tantalising proposition when it was first floated, particularly with Oliver Stone at the helm. As embodied by a brilliantly cast Josh Brolin who nails the character well, George W. Bush in “W.” is a man who is not of bad intent; he is just prone to fail due to his low EQ rather than IQ. The man Oliver Stone chooses to show in this film is hard done by his father who feels his brother Jeb is the winner in the family. George, seeking some sort of spiritual redemption not only in the eyes of his father but in God, motivates himself to become successfully elected first as Governor and then as President, but manages to fail miserably at both due to his short temper, narrow and simplistic views of the world and a motivation to “appear” a success. Stone does his best work in portraying what we do know about the real man, being his bad boy early days, the Bushisms, his devotion to religion and his belief in being chosen by God to lead the world. If anything, this film makes you feel sorry for Bush in that he appears to be a simple character who was born in to a sophisticated world and who has just enough talent to get himself in to positions of power and privilege but manages to screw it up because he does not have the street-wise smarts inherent in his DNA to do the right thing. His rationale for invading Iraq was more about establishing a new American order in the Middle East so “no one will screw with us again” as opposed to finding those directly responsible for the crisis which unfortunately antagonised the American position in the region further. The best scene in the film is one in which Bush is having a dream in which his father is telling him in the oval office that even after all he has accomplished he has managed to become an even bigger failure, not only as a President but by tarnishing the Bush name and its 200 year history. The last shot of the film perhaps sums up Bush perfectly by Stone, in that he’s in the outfield of an empty baseball field, he moves to catch the ball but loses sight of it in all the lights shining down from him in the stadium, thus dropping the ball literally. “W.” is a lightweight portrayal, which may be appropriate given who it is about.

THE BAD: Given Oliver Stone’s previous work, “W.” is a fairly soft portrayal of such a controversial figure. You’d expect a characterization of George W. Bush to be lightweight because the man has about as much depth as a kiddie pool, but Stone has made the entire film this way which makes it a little disappointing to any one, myself included, who wanted something meatier and sinister, with more top secret president meetings and more insight in to how Bush came to make the decisions he did. In this respect, the film occupies a half-way middle ground which cannot really satisfy anyone; the liberals will think it isn’t harsh enough and conservatives will think it’s not a fair representation of a man who comes from such a prestigious family. As a result, the film could have been thirty minutes shorter and still given you the same impression of the man that Stone wishes to impart.

Todd Darling’s documentary, A Snowmobile for George, starts with the question of why George Bush brought back the two stroke engine snowmobile that emits 27 times more pollution than an average car. An interesting topic to broach, Darling looks at it from a very personal angle, being his own family purchased one such snowmobile.

However, while the doc looks at this issue, its really not the most important question being examined in the film. Really it is Darling’s look at the impact of environmental deregulation, particularly since 2000 and under the Bush administration and the Interior Department that is the core of the film. With that in mind, the varied stories about non snowmobile issues fit seemingly well together in the context of his documentary. It is only towards the end that the novelty began to wear off on me.

However, it is a snowmobile that got Darling to begin asking questions. There are 1.6 million snowmobiles in the U.S. It’s not one of the largest industries. He begins in San Francisco with an expert to find answers to how this little vehicle was able to change U.S. policy. Darling discovers that there are ways to make cleaner engines, but due to a relaxing of regulations under the Bush administration, the industry doesn’t have to fix this little polluter now. But for why, he had to search further.

To find out more about deregulation, Darling visited the Yurok tribe in Northern California. They were dealing with a similar deregulation issue with the Klamath river and salmon production. The livelihood of their fisherman and commercial fisherman was at stake. Due to damming up the river, the fishing industry was suffering. The answer for them? The major irrigation project up the river that needed more resources. However, the issue goes deeper with Karl Rove stepping in during negotiations in order to help things go smoothly for an election in the area.

Darling transitions smoothly back to the snowmobile issue by exploring Lake Tahoe as the next leg of his journey. He presents the other side, the pro-snowmobile fans in Tahoe. We journey on to Yellowstone to explore further why the snowmobile is allowed on public lands.

It is after we visit Yellowstone that the documentary begins to unglue a bit. I have to say that overall, I like how Darling’s documentary starts us with one topic and connects how the issue affects so many other economic, environmental and political issues within the states. The documentary is well made and reminds me vaguely of Michael Moore’s style of narration, with a little more wit. Darling provides a good dose of interesting footage, including some upsetting imagery of dead fish, along with the talking heads that provide details of the events. What is also great about this doc is seeing so much of the American landscape as Darling travels with his snowmobile.

However, I began to wonder why we focus so much on the snowmobile when the more interesting focus seems to be on the environmental deregulations. I realize that it pulls the stories together, but the Klamath river story could have been its own documentary. The impact of that story made me lose interest in the other story. The same happened when we transition to the rancher in Wyoming and the struggle between the federal government’s right to mine on his property due to loopholes in the property deed.

But maybe having too much information is a good problem for a doc. It makes for lots of interesting details and good conversation starters. Much better than a doc with absolutely nothing to inform. Still, what Todd Darling does best in this film is remind us that the environmental impact isn’t just about saving buffalo or fish or joyrides on a snowmobile, it is about the impact on the people who try to continue to thrive as the rules of living change based on political and economic means.

The film recently played at On Location: Memphis International Film Festival and the Atlanta Film Festival. It’s one to catch when it plays in a town near you, especially for people like me who know nothing about the snowmobile world or more importantly the effects of environmental deregulation.

The President of The United States of America George W. Bush is reviled by the people of Earth today including by the majority of Americans. His job approval ratings have dropped so low that an oil miner would have a hard time finding them at the bottom of the well. It’s hard to believe that the very same people who elected him President twice hold him in the same regard that they hold J.M.K., John Mark Karr. How could people be so fickle? How many barrels does it take to fill a pickle? Is Laura Bush the burning bush, or is that Hilary Bush? If your name isn’t Bush or Clinton then you aren’t getting into the White House. Old habits die hard, just ask Sam Nunn. America descended from Great Britain and they still love their royalty. Prince Charles said that in his next life he wanted to come back as Camilla Parker Bowles’ bicycle seat. He would be better off praying that in his next life he doesn’t look like Dumbo.

It used to be that if you had a problem you would blame the Jews, or the Blacks, or the Japanese, or the Germans, or the Russians, or the Mexicans. Today if you have a problem like the war in Iraq, the war in Lebanon, the war in Afghanistan, global warming, record deficits, bankrupt social security, under funded education or a small mole on your arm with a ragged outline and a purplish reddish black color, you blame President Bush.

People are ruled by their emotions. If something feels good then they do it and if something feels bad they shun it. Accepting blame for your own mistakes and shortcomings feels bad and so we don’t do it. Instead we scapegoat others. Michael Jackson was idolized by America like the golden cow at Mount Sinai until he had a minor run in with the law. Michael says in his hit song, “I’m starting with the man in the mirror, I’m asking him to change his ways, no message could have been any clearer, if you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself, and make that change.”

Everyone wants to change themselves. Nobody is happy with who they are. Amazon is shipping out self help books faster than Pfizer is shipping out valium. Television commercials bombard us constantly with the same message: “If you don’t buy our product, religion, ideology etc. you’re going to have a nervous breakdown at any moment and wind up in Hell forever.” It’s gotten so bad that the biggest problem in the Sudan today is the E.D. crisis. The world welcomed the recent JonBenet Ramsey fiasco because it gave us all a chance to temporarily take our minds off of the 50 wars raging across the globe and watch the 6 year old Angel sing and dance in her beautiful costumes. It made us feel for a moment that perhaps there is justice in this world. Now that justice turned out to be an illusion we have all been thrown back into the paranoia pit. People are so stressed out today around the world that if they didn’t have President Bush to blame for all of their problems they would be throwing themselves in front of subway trains. You can’t even take mascara onto an airplane anymore for fear that you are going to use it to bring down the Sears Center.

We scapegoat others for our problems as a psychological defense mechanism to alleviate stress. The Old Testament is the Holy Scripture of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. In the Old Testament God commanded that once every year on the Day of Atonement for our sins, the High Priest take a goat out into the desert. He laid his hands on the goat’s head and transferred all of the sins of the Jewish nation into the goat and then sent it out into the desert to carry away the sins of the people. Christianity modified this in the New Testament story of Jesus Christ. Jesus took all of the sins of all Christians past, present and future onto himself and off and away of every person who says, “Jesus I believe in you please forgive me.”

The Muslim people believe in the Old Testament, the New Testament, Jesus the Messiah, and they tacked on the Koran. The Muslims have perfected atoning for sin into an art form, praying to God of Mount Sinai aka God the Father, Jesus Christ, The Holy Spirit, Allah (God of Mount Sinai in Arabic), Elohim, Adonai, (God of Mount Sinai in Hebrew) on prayer rugs facing Mecca five times a day for God to wash them clean of sin so that they can go to Heaven. The Muslims, Christians and Jews are so guilt ridden and so uptight that they make Woody Allen look stable.

The World today has Christianity, Islam and Judaism each with Holy Bibles commanding them to massacre every man, woman and child outside of their group for God of Mount Sinai. God is calling upon each of his 3 children to wipe out his other 2 children. This is why we have the Middle East Crisis and the war on terror aka the war between the Christians, Muslims and Jews. George W. Bush did not write these Bibles. This conflict is 4,000 years old. The Assyrians (Syria) conquered 10 tribes of Israel 3,000 years before George W. Bush was born. Babylon (Iraq) conquered the other 2 tribes of Israel 2,500 years before George W. Bush was born. George W. Bush is not to blame for this conflict.

George W. Bush is also not responsible for global warming. President Bush is not a scientist. He didn’t invent the automobile or the factories or begin the industrial revolution. Al Gore is the leading environmentalist on Earth. When he was Vice President he couldn’t get one single Senator to vote for Kyoto.

You can say a lot of things about President Bush but you can never say that he isn’t the ultimate patriot. He is faced with one single question today: “Is it better for Shiite Iran to control and own the entire Middle East, 2/3 of the world’s oil, all the nuclear weapons the oil money can buy, or The United States of America?” Would it have been better for Saddam Hussein to have owned the Middle East today? How can people say that Saddam didn’t have weapons of mass destruction? He used them on his own Kurdish people. He was lusting for nuclear weapons. When Iranian nuclear bombs begin raining down on New York and Miami and Chicago and Los Angeles, then tell me that President Bush was wrong. Then cry about the 3,000 brave soldiers who gave their lives to prevent that day. God Bless President George W. Bush and Laura Bush and their family, and the people of The United States of America who in their wisdom elected President Bush twice. The next President of The United States of America will be Jeb Bush, the rightful heir to the throne.

And that’s the FunnyPoetry.com funny quote summary for 2006 – the year that Britain finally paid back the last of the money it borrowed from the U.S. and Canada during WW II, according to CNN. And why did that take so long? The interest rate was 2%, that’s why. (By the way, Britain’s WW I debts were never fully repaid.) On to 2007, which looks ripe to produce many more fine quotes: if for no other reason than that 25% of Americans expect the return of Jesus in the coming year according to an Associated Press-AOL News poll.

I’ll give credit where credit is due. The South Dakota Republican Party (SD GOP) must be applauded.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m still a Constitution Party guy. I still firmly believe that the Constitution Party remains America’s best national political party based solely upon the issues, including that of abortion. However, when the South Dakota legislature banned virtually all abortions last week, the SD GOP set the bar extremely high for the Constitution Party to follow.

This is ironic indeed. Usually it is the Constitution Party that sets the bar high for Republicans. Regardless of its own platform, the national Republican Party is actually pro-abortion because it has accomplished more damage to the cause for Life due to its constant pursuance of a “pragmatic”, compromising strategy of incrementalism. After three decades of sell-out and compromise since the Roe v. Wade decision , the Republican Party has produced no leadership whatsoever committed to a full frontal assault. That is why the SD GOP must be commended today.

Moreover, with recent weaknesses emerging within the usually no-nonsense Constitution Party, it appears as if the SD GOP has now shown up the Constitutionalists, at least with regard to this issue. Unbeknownst to many third party observers, a recent ongoing struggle has persisted within the Constitution Party as to whether it should pursue a truly principled pro-life avenue, or traverse the deceptively enticing road of compromise and Big Tentism idolized by much of the Republican Party establishment.

One thing is certain in this writer’s mind: broad is the way to destruction.

The issue centers upon the Constitution Party’s Nevada affiliate, the Independent American Party (IAPNV), which had elected a state chairman who publicly proclaimed on numerous occasions that rape-conceived children are mere “intruders” and that women have the “right” to abort them. Such a dastardly view is not only so obviously unbiblical and unconstitutional at the outset, but it is also a view totally contrary to that of the party’s potent pro-life plank.

The CP National Committee is therefore debating whether to disaffiliate the IAPNV in order to preserve its own legitimacy as America’s only genuine pro-life party. Those who oppose disaffiliation cite “party growth” as their main rationale. However, unless the IAPNV voluntarily replaces its chairman, which is my hope, the National Committee absolutely has no choice but to disaffiliate it. Unless, of course, it chooses to follow in the footsteps of Republican Party double-dealing.

Bottom line: a national party whose state affiliates elect chairmen who believe in abortion cannot legitimately be a pro-life party.

The danger for the national Constitution Party is that it would necessarily surrender any moral authority to criticize any other pro-abortion party. For example, it cannot ever again issue press releases criticizing George W. Bush for appointing pro-aborts to key positions, such as Albert Gonzalez. To do so would render the party hypocritical at best. How dare a party that tolerates its own state affiliates to elect pro-abortion chief officers, criticize the President of the United States for appointing similar officers?

In March of 2000, National Chairman Jim Clymer issued a hard-hitting press release in the form of a letter to Alan Keyes. In the letter, Clymer wrote:

“The Republican Party is the proverbial ‘house divided against itself’ on both policy and principle. If the restoration of Constitutional government and the end to ‘legal’ abortion in America is your goal, then the ‘Big Tent’ strategy of the GOP is ridiculous on its face. Some in that ‘tent’ are pro-abortion and some are pro-life. Some are for enforcing the Constitution and the 10th Amendment, some are against it. How can a party that is fundamentally divided on these issues ever serve as the vehicle to champion them in the public arena? The lack of unity within the GOP on core issues like abortion… prevent it from ever putting American back on the right track. No matter how many platforms conservatives write, no matter how many brilliant speeches you deliver, the division will remain and the principles that you espouse will, in all likelihood, never be brought to dominance within the GOP.”

Clymer was absolutely correct when he wrote this six years ago. The irony is that the letter may soon be the sort that the SD GOP could write about the Constitution Party.

If the Constitution Party were to issue the same press release today without doing anything to disaffiliate the IAPNV or to persuade the IAPNV to replace its chairman with a legitimate pro-lifer, then the national party would sink to new depths of foolishness.

Other than its acknowledgement of King Jesus Christ in its Preamble, the Constitution Party’s trademark is its Sanctity of Life plank. It is its bread-and-butter. It is the absolute key to its party growth because it has the potential to attract millions of disenchanted pro-life voters who have been sold a Republican bill of goods, thereby delivering a blow to the GOP solar plexus.

Some good folks in the Constitution Party argue that disaffiliation of the IAPNV only hurts the national party because it necessarily “shrinks” its numbers. They explicitly call for a “big tent” philosophy.

But, as Clymer correctly penned back in 2000, this strategy is “ridiculous on its face.” Why should anybody be motivated to leave one big tent for another? Something more compelling is needed.

I am hopeful that the Constitution Party of 2006 has not drifted from the Constitution Party of 2000 that I later fell in love with. The Constitution Party was forged in principle, and not intended to serve as a cheap knock-off. One GOP is one GOP too many. But unless this issue is decided on the side of the unborn, the Constitution Party will have taken its most decisive step toward Copy Cat City. Been there, done that.

In 1996, Republican Party Presidential nominee Bob Dole was asked what he thought of the thoroughly pro-life platform passed by the National Convention delegates in San Diego. His reaction summed up the ho-hum attitude of the Republican Party establishment: “I haven’t read the Platform and I’m not bound by it anyway.”

Has the Constitution Party National Committee read its own pro-life platform lately? It’s quite strong indeed. In its mere 14 years of existence, the Constitution Party has shown itself to be big talkers, especially on the abortion issue. But now it’s time to walk the walk.

Strong platform planks require strong actions to back them up, or they aren’t worth the paper they’re written on. The Constitution Party has always prided itself on promises of strong action. Big promises.

Well, here’s its first big chance to make good: Talk? Or walk?

When President Obama campaigned, he was very specific about eliminating the abuse of executive power that was demonstrated by George W. Bush (to be discussed in a later piece). Of course, it was merely a campaign promise, and as we’re told so often, “promises are meant to be broken”.

However, with his massive agenda being stalled or stopped in the Congress, Mr. Obama is going to resort to the same abuses that his predecessor did, including the use of executive orders to advance energy, environmental, fiscal and other domestic policy priorities.

One of the most frightening executive orders coming out of the Obama administration was the Establishment of the Council of Governors.

The incredible advances in executive power of Bush and Obama were in my opinion started by Bill Clinton’s favorite republican and John McCain’s idol, Theodore Roosevelt.

Let me briefly examine some Constitutional basics: Checks and balances (remember that from grade school?) is where the legislative branch makes the law (Article I, Section I), the executive branch enforces the law ((Article II, Section 3) and the judicial branch interprets the law.

The president may recommend bills to Congress, and can veto what he believes unconstitutional. Congress can overturn a veto with a 2/3 vote.

What is an executive order? It is a directive issued by the president. This power has been abused throughout American history but really took off during the terms of Teddy Roosevelt.

As Thomas Woods and Kevin Gutzman list in the book, “Who killed the Constitution?” Roosevelt issued dramatically more executive orders than any of his predecessors. According to the book, Rutherford B. Hayes issued 0, Chester Arthur issued 3, William McKinley issued 51, and to make a long story short, Teddy Roosevelt issued 1006!

Roosevelt used and abused the executive order because he truly believed that this was his role as president (clearly ignoring Article II).

He had had a tremendous “cult of personality” and the media loved him, but let’s look at some of the things Roosevelt said and done:

“…since the president occupies a political office for which the whole country votes, unlike the Congress, he is in a unique position to represent the American people. The president embodies the will of the people and must do what’s necessary to carry it out.”

During the United Mine Workers strike in 1902, he ordered the mine owners to agree to arbitration. If not he threatened to have the army take over the coal mines! Of course, the Constitution gives no power to the government to confiscate private property. Interestingly, Clintons and McCains favorite president said in response to that assertion, “To hell with the Constitution when the people want coal!”

In addition, Roosevelt told one of his top generals “I bid you pay no heed to any other authority, no heed to a writ from a judge, or anything else but my commands.”

And I could really go on and on about the abuses of Teddy Roosevelt; whether it be the takeover of the Dominican Republic’s customs collection, sending the US fleet all over the world, taking Panama, Roosevelt regularly ignored the Congress and did things unprecedented with the executive order.

In recent years the use of the executive order as a governing style has become commonplace in American politics, essentially making the legislative branch, the lawmakers, the Congress impotent.

Even former President Clinton aide, Paul Begala once said concerning executive orders, “Stroke of the pen, law of the land. Kinda cool.”

So in my opinion, Theodore Roosevelt was incredibly damaging to our form of Constitutional government and the power of the president has far exceeded that of the Congress or the courts. A king? Everything the founders fought against because they saw these abuses from the beginning of human history. We had a very unique government, but elected officials had to abide by the Constitution to keep it that way.

Former President Richard Nixon once said about the authority of the president. “Well, when the President does it, that means it is not illegal.”

Enough said.

III. ALAN KEYES:

Alan Keyes is a Maryland resident and former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Social and Economic Council under Ronald Reagan. He earned a Ph.D. in government affairs from Harvard in 1979 and is also the host the radio call-in show, “America’s Wake-Up Call: The Alan Keyes Show.” He launched his first bid for the Senate in 1988, But lost to incumbent Democrat Paul Sarbanes. In 1992 he ran again, this time losing to Democrat Barbara Mikulski. During this campaign Keyes ran up still un[paid campaign debts while he paid himself a salary of $100,000 out of campaign funds. He counters that the debt is that of his campaign and that he is personally not responsible for it.

Though he has sought the GOP Presidential nomination twice before and is quite charismatic, Keyes is also enigmatic and in some circles considered an "extremist." Another issue of concern is whether or not Keyes can be a "loyal" Republican, as it was reported by the Washington Post in 1992 that Keyes called the party "racist", adding "Beyond a certain level blacks need not apply...If I can work out in the fields, I think I ought to be allowed to come into the house for dinner."

As a Presidential candidate Keyes often lamented the fact that many of the questions asked him were centered on race and he found such questioning disturbing. He believed the media did not portray him as an equally capable candidate, and emphasized his race more than his stands on the issues. Slate's Jacob Weisberg said that "the racial factor works mildly in Keyes' favor" because, if he were a white Republican, and thus less of a novelty, the press would portray him more directly as a fanatic. Ignoring Keyes is the kindest thing the press can do for him."

Keyes is stringently anti-abortion, writing in 2002 "The violation on [sic] innocent human life is the same whether you commit terrorism or commit abortion.” (“The Vocabulary of Terror: Anti-abortion politics since 9/11,” April 10, 2002). Keyes added, “”What distinguishes the terrorist from the ordinary warrior, is that the terrorist will consciously target innocent human life. What is done in the course of an abortion? Someone consciously targets innocent human life.”

During the January 6, 2000 Republican Presidential debate he revealed that his stand on homosexuality is even more biting: “It’s about time we all faced up to the truth. If we accept the radical homosexual agenda, be it in the military or in marriage or in other areas of our lives, we are utterly destroying the concept of family. We must oppose it in the military. We must oppose it in marriage. We must oppose it if the fundamental institution of our civilization is to survive. Those unwilling to face that fact and playing games with this issue are doing so irresponsibly at the price of America’s moral foundations.” (Meanwhile, few know that Keyes’ daughter Maya is a lesbian, a lifestyle he has condemned as “selfish hedonism”).

During the 2004 Illinois Senatorial debates Keyes was asked, “What would you say to your child if one of your children was to come to you and to say that he or she was a homosexual?” Keyes’ response was “I do not say that homosexual relations is an abomination, the Bible says so. And many people in this state believe the Bible when it says so…Marriage–traditional marriage–is based upon heterosexual relations, because they are connected to procreation. In every society and civilization, marriage is connected to the business of regulating the consequences of procreation. And that is the fundamental argument, in a civic sense, against something like homosexual marriage. It is irrelevant. It is not needed, and the idea that one should have legislation that is regulating private friendships for no reason at all strikes me as a fundamental degrading of those private friendships…and to institutionalize that, it seems to me, sets us on a road toward our social self-destruction.”

The eloquent Keyes believes that America needs a return to its morally-based roots. Such viewpoints make him sound “preachy”, but Keyes contends that the lack of moral fiber in this country is one of the causes of the problems affecting the inner cities. Keyes has a a strong following among conservative Christians, but not to the point where he has a realistic chance of ever being elected to anything. He says that abortion provides women “a choice to move against that life in her womb is a violation of the fundamental premise that makes America what it is…it’s about our commitment to what defines us as a people and a free country. I think it’s the most important issue of our time.” Still, others have trouble with his opposition to the constitutional clause allowing for the separation of church and state.

Keyes believes the 17th Amendment, which provides the direct election of United States Senators, rather than their election or appointment by a state legislature, unfairly diminishes the power of state legislatures. In 2004, Senator Zell Miller introduced S.J. Res. 35, that would repeal the 17th Amendment, believing it gave too much power to Washington’s special interests and was an attack on federalism. Also supporting that idea was Libertarian Lew Rockwell.

Keyes argues, “Senators were originally chosen, under our Constitution, by the state legislature–for the simple reason that the Senate was supposed to represent the state governments, not geographic entities, but the governments that are empowered to take care of the affairs of the states, as sovereign entities that, under our Constitution, retained the residual powers of government not delegated to the federal government…our laws, in the state of Illinois, are passed by the state legislature. In the passage of those laws, are the people of this state “disenfranchised”? Of course they’re not. When the legislature makes a decision, puts a criminal law on the books, it is “The People v. So-and-So” when that law is violated, because the legislature is presumed to represent the people. That is the meaning of our Constitutional system.”

IV. KEYES ON THE ISSUES

In 1996 Keyes sought the Republican Party Presidential nomination, but the prize went to Bob Dole who was throttled in the general election by Bill Clinton). In 2000 Keyes tried again. He “…was invited to join the two remaining major candidates, John McCain and George W. Bush, in a number of nationally televised debates. Many viewers were more impressed by Keyes than McCain or Bush, and commentators on Fox News Channel and MSNBC went as far as declaring Keyes the winner of the debates. FOX News Channel analyst Dick Morris said, ‘Bush has no place to go but down. Keyes had an original message and it registered’.”

In 2004 when the Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate seat from Illinois had to resign due to a sex scandal, Keyes was recruited to answer the bell. Some saw him as a carpetbagger and worse, as a hypocrite for denouncing Hillary Clinton’s New York Senate bid after a brief residency in that state. Keyes said, “I deeply resent the destruction of federalism represented by Hillary Clinton’s willingness go into a state she doesn’t even live in and pretend to represent people there, so I certainly wouldn’t imitate it.” He blamed this hypocrisy on running at the Party’s request and to the unique circumstances under which his participation had been solicited. Nevertheless, the final results were Barack Obama won 3,524,70270 votes to Keyes’ 1,371,88227.

Keyes is an advocate of the death penalty and during his failed Illinois Senatorial campaign was asked, “How does your support of capital punishment, and opposition to abortion, conflict with your Roman Catholic faith? Keyes denied a conflict, stating “Abortion and capital punishment are at different levels of moral concern. Abortion is intrinsically, objectively, wrong and sinful, whereas capital punishment is a matter of prudential judgment which is not, in and of itself, a violation of moral right. There are certain issues that objectively violate the most fundamental canons of moral decency, and abortion, for instance, is one of them–the taking of innocent life…But if you take a position that effaces the distinction between innocent life and guilty life, then you not only violate a moral canon-you destroy the fundamental basis of the law, and that is the ultimate disrespect for human life.”

Keyes opposes the CAFTA, NAFTA and GATT agreements. Furthermore, he supports the 23% sales tax, which his Senatorial opponent Barack Obama called, “One of the most, potentially, regressive tax systems that we could have.” Keyes believes that such a flat-rate tax “Would be a net gain for a lot of taxpayers, right there. You would also see an enormous expansion of capitalization of the economy, expansion of jobs and productivity, and the most important thing is that the individual in their spending patterns would determine when they paid the tax. Every Fair Tax proposal also includes measures to make sure that the poor and those willing to live with frugality will not be paying the tax.”

Obama countered with a study backed with research from a University of Chicago economist. “After you had all the exemptions in place (the tax) it’d be around fifty cents to seventy cents on the dollar, on every purchase, if you made some of the exemptions that you suggest. (This tax is) on top of the state and local sales taxes that already exist.”

Keyes also stands strong against abortion citing the following figures: “Did you know that something like thirteen million black babies have been killed since Roe v. Wade, as a result of this holocaust of abortion? Did you know that the black population today is something like twenty-five percent less than it would otherwise be, because of abortion? Did you know that black women are disproportionately likely to have abortions, that more black babies are being aborted today than are being born, and that, as you project these kinds of tendencies into the future, the black population becomes a negligible factor in American politics and other things, over the course of the twenty-first century? I look back on black Americans with a heritage of oppression and slavery that, unfortunately, is involved in this question as well, because seventy-eight percent of the abortion clinics that are provided by the most numerous provider of abortions in America, Planned Parenthood, are located in or near the black community. Blacks are thirteen percent of the population. They account for over a third of the abortions. So I think that, on these important issues, we have to look for the patterns that still target people on the basis of race-and they’re targeting people in the womb.”

More recently Keyes opposed the nomination of Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court, writing “Many conservatives cannot understand why President George W. Bush has taken the stealth approach in his selection of nominees for the Supreme Court. If the Democrats trash highly qualified nominees because their thinking reflects the president’s judgment instead of the Democrat Party platform, it won’t be hard to convince the public that they are simply trying to achieve through intimidation what they couldn’t achieve at the ballot box in the last presidential election.”

V. WILL CONDI RUN?

Dr. Condoleezza Rice, named by her mother after the Italian musical notation “Con Dolcezza” (meaning to play “with sweetness.”), was born in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1954. During this time Birmingham was the center of the Civil Rights movement, but her family was not the demonstrative type, choosing to emphasize hard work and education as the means of “overcoming.”

B. Denise Rawlins writes, “As the only child of educators, the importance of learning was impressed upon Rice from day one. She learned to read when most children were still struggling to walk and by the age of 3 had begun lessons in a wide range of areas: Classical piano, figure skating, ballet, French. Rice was in eighth grade by age 11, entered the University of Denver at 15, and went on to earn her doctorate in international studies.”

She is idolized by little black girls across the country and in the eyes of some is the darling of the Republican Party. She has the President’s ear, briefing him each morning and speaks to him throughout the day. Former Clinton aide Dick Morris predicts that either she or Hillary Clinton will be sworn in as the 44th President of the United States in January, 2009. He and co-author Eileen McGann believe, “There is one, and only one, figure in America who can stop Hillary Clinton: Secretary of State Condoleezza ‘Condi’ Rice. Among all of the possible Republican candidates for President, Condi alone could win the nomination, defeat Hillary and derail a third Clinton administration. Condoleezza, in fact, poses a mortal threat to Hillary’s success. With her broad-based appeal to voters outside the traditional Republican base, Condi has the potential to cause enough major defections from the Democratic party to create serious erosion among Hillary’s core voters. She attracts the same female, African-American and Hispanic voters who embrace Hillary, while still maintaining the support of conventional Republicans.”

It is doubtful that if she were to run for President Rice would get widespread black support. Many blacks do not embrace her, seeing her as the front for an administration that is indifferent to the concerns of blacks. This started with George Bush’s snubbing of an NAACP invitation during the primaries, to the upholding of Michigan’s anti-affirmative action statutes (on Martin Luther Kings birthday no less) to the slow reaction to those left stranded by Hurricane Katrina. In all three instances, Rice was criticized as a “Bush apologist.” A recent article in The Black Commentator declared Rice, “…the purest expression of the race traitor. No polite description is possible.” The article goes on to say, “…the Republican Party adopted a strategy of selective, high profile minority appointments. This approach allowed the GOP to continue to cultivate its core racist base…Of decidedly secondary importance was the possibility of finding substantial support among Black voters.”

Before Rice became a part of Republican politics she was a student at Stanford University. During this time she was influenced by Czechoslovakian diplomat Josef Korbel, the father of soon-to-be Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. Rice first drew notice when during a 1984 faculty seminar she challenged Brent Scowcroft, who was the head of President Ronald Reagan’s Commission on Strategic Forces. After a talk on arms control, Rice questioned the wisdom of the administration’s policies. Scowcroft later admitted that Rice was, “somebody I need to get to know. It’s an intimidating subject. Here’s this young girl, and she’s not at all intimidated.”

Scowcroft began inviting Rice to various government events, and when he became National Security Advisor in 1989, appointed her to the National Security Council, as an authority on Soviet policy. In 1998 she met then-Governor of Texas, George W. Bush for a meeting on the campus at Stanford University. A year later she resigned her position as provost of Stanford to lead Bush’s team of foreign-policy advisers. In 2000 Dr. Rice was chosen to address the Republican National Convention in 2000.

While her strength is foreign policy, it begs the question of how she might fare on domestic issues. Rice’s economic acumen might best be illustrated by her tenure at Stanford, where she had to make unpopular budget cuts. Two years later the school was back on solid economic footing, impressing the school’s benefactors.

On the war on terrorism Rice says that the Bush administration, “…acted swiftly to unify and streamline our efforts to secure the American homeland. The president and Congress, through the USA Patriot Act, have broken down the legal and bureaucratic walls that prior to Sept. 11 hampered intelligence and law enforcement agencies from collecting and sharing vital threat information. Those who now argue for rolling back the Patriot Act’s changes invite us to forget the important lesson we learned on Sept. 11.”

However, some see her as nothing more than her playing “Checkers” to Bush’s Nixon. During her Senate confirmation hearings (for the Secretary of State position) California Senator Barbara Boxer said that her loyalty to George Bush, “overwhelmed your respect for the truth.” Boxer also criticized the Bush administration (and Rice in particular) for failing to develop an exit strategy for Iraq and being unwilling to acknowledge mistakes.

As Bush’s right-hand, her policies might emphasize the same ones the President has stressed during his second term. This might include partially privatizing social security, revising tax laws and addressing the issue of immigration. Like Alan Keyes, Rice considers herself a deeply religious person, meaning she is more than likely against abortion and gay marriage, but there is no proverbial “paper trail” in which can be attributed to Rice. Nonetheless, there are Condi detractors such as Grugyn Silverbristle who writes, “As I began to investigate Condoleezza Rice, the first irony that I noted was an almost complete absence of original writings. Her important books and papers are almost always co-authored. In fact, almost the only original ‘work’ by Condoleezza that I could locate was her Class Day speech of June 12, 1999.”

In this speech Rice utters the line, “Our common border is no longer a line that divides us, but a region that unites our nations, reflecting our common aspirations, values and culture…” It has been alleged that this line was lifted from a previous speech by Colin Powell. The accusation that Rice may not be “an original thinker” would probably do nothing to hurt her on the campaign trail. And while Rice is “flattered” by the “Draft Condi” websites, she has no desire to be President, unless it is of the National Football League. (I’m serious, folks).

Rice did however pen an essay titled, “Promoting the National Interest,” which focused on the need for changing the U.S. foreign policy of allowing our allies to have say in U.S. foreign policy. Rice wrote, “…the U.S. should return to the core principle that ‘power matters’.” This was written a year before Bush launched his 2000 bid for the White House. It has now become the cornerstone of Mr. Bush’s foreign policy.

Some candidates have declined to run for the Presidency because they don’t want to subject their families to the invasiveness of the media. In the case of Condoleezza ice’s case she would have to fend off unsubstantiated rumors of her being a lesbian. The question was spawned in all places, in a comic strip called “The Boondocks” and the statement, “Maybe if there was a man in the world who Condoleezza truly loved, she wouldn’t be so hell-bent to destroy it.”

The Washington Post pulled that version of the strip citing its policy of not commenting on the personal lives of political figures. Democrats won’t be so nice, as we saw the attacks on Mary Cheney during the 2004 campaign. Sarah Warn asserts, “Of course, being called a lesbian shouldn’t be any big deal, but the reality is that for women (particularly single women) in public positions of power, these kinds of rumors can be very damaging. (It is) the use of lesbianism as a slur that is so disturbing, since it’s based not only on the assumption that a strong, confidant woman must not be a “real” (read: heterosexual) woman, but that only women in heterosexual relationships are ‘real’ women.”

The politics of destruction are more than a fancy catchphrase, but a distinct reality. When is the last time a presidential campaign was truly about issues? Since the Bush-Dukakis debacle (the political nadir in my book), personal attacks have been launched under the guise of “who has the stronger family values.”

If Condi does run, she will have access to some very deep pockets, “having served on the board of directors for the Chevron Corporation, the Charles Schwab Corporation, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, Transamerica Corporation, Hewlett Packard, The Carnegie Corporation, The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, The Rand Corporation, and KQED, public broadcasting for San Francisco. She was also on the Board of Trustees of the University of Notre Dame, the International Advisory Council of J.P. Morgan, and the San Francisco Symphony Board of Governors.” (Wikipedia). Again, this might cause black voters to be leery of her, believing she (like most GOP members) is beholden to big business.

In August 2004 and 2005 Forbes magazine named her the world’s most powerful woman. So should Condi run? The consensus is she is the administration’s most intelligent member and has an excellent chance of winning. Her popularity cuts across racial lines. Even as the Vice-Presidential nominee she makes the GOP formidable when coupled with Jeb Bush, John McCain or Rudy Giulani. Furthermore, a Rice-Clinton campaign might bring politics back to where it should be: A discussion of the issues between two astute individuals–and may the best woman win–assuming it comes down to that.

COMING UP” McCain, Bush, Giuliani

III.

The immense carnage of WWI was caused by one gunshot in Yugoslavia, “The shot heard round the world.” The Apocalypse, the sudden violent end of life on Earth forever has now been set in motion by people ignoring their 100 things in common and focusing on their 1 difference.

Prior to 911, how many Americans knew where Afghanistan was? Today, Feb. 23, 2006, how many Americans know the difference between a Shiite and a Sunni Muslim? The cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad triggered a world wide Muslim stampede which is now escalating into an Iraqi civil war between the Shi’a and the Sunni Muslims, and the Christian Americans are caught right in the middle of it. If the Sunnis win, then they will free Saddam Hussein, and he will likely go into exile with his Swiss Oil Billions in a friendly Muslim country, until his triumphant return to power in Iraq, as did the Ayatollah returning to replace the American Iranian puppet the Shah of Iran. Had George Bush spent 3 cents on 1 bullet and executed Saddam in his rabbit hole, this never would have happened. Imagine Scott Peterson coming into court in his underwear, constantly standing up and calling the Judge a puppet of the Americans, and winning. Saddam Hussein has got to be laughing his head off at George Bush right now, Mr. “Mission Accomplished.”, the son of his father Abu George, Mr. “Read my lips, no new taxes.” Unfortunately the Democrats are such weaklings, like Hubert Humphrey Dumptey and Walter Mondale that they can’t knock out the Republican Party that has already knocked itself out on the domestic and world stage, plunging America into bankruptcy and making it the black sheep of the World. Don’t worry because soon it will all be over.

Earthlings are the laughing stock, the comedy channel of the Universe. Many Americans today are wondering why the Bushes, whose oil company was financed by the Bin Laden family and who sit on the board of directors of their puppets the Saudi Royal family are now selling the American ports to the Muslim United Arab Emirates. The question is, “Who is pulling whose strings?” The House of Saud is obviously funneling billions into the Bushes Swiss bank accounts for keeping them in power and safe from Osama Bin Laden, the well known video star. Video did not kill the radio star. To say this is to blaspheme Howard Stern. Yeshua aka Joshua aka Jesus aka South Park Jesus was a Jewish Rabbi with a black hat and a black coat and long sideburns aka pais who created the Universe and everything in it, according to 2,000,000,000 Christians. 1,000,000,000 Christians believe that the successor to Joshua Goldstein was Peter aka The Pope aka His Holiness “Mr. Infallible”, Mr. incapable of error. Another 1,000,000,000 Christians don’t believe this. This disagreement over the successor to Jesus has led to countless wars and murders and raping and pillaging of innocent Christian men, women and children. It is so easy to see insanity in others but impossible to see it in ourselves. Yesterday my friend Isabelle attended a Hermes scarf club luncheon. One woman brought 30 of her 400 $500 Hermes scarves for show and tell. The Hermes head scarf is $5,000. The female Miami stevedores love their new uniform, burkas. The Jebusites and the Hittites are making a comeback at Disneyworld, which was recently purchased by the House of Saud aka the BarbJennaBush Development Corporation. Who needs screenwriters when truth is stranger than fiction?

So, what separates Sunni Muslims from Shiite Muslims other than their battle for the power, control and oil of Iraq? Well, the Prophet Muhammad lived about 1,400 years ago on a planet 5 billion years old with human skeletons named Lucy 4 million years old. A Prophet is a person, like Joshua Goldfarb, who speaks to God and gets the game plan. Today he would either be a schizophrenic undergoing electro shock therapy and a lobotomy or a best selling author. The Prophet Muhammad could not read or write, and he did not speak directly to God of Mount Sinai, aka Allah, God the Father, The Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ, Adonai, Yehovah, Elohim, Hashem, etc. Instead he spoke to the same Angel Gabriel who brought the good news to the Virgin Mary aka Mirriam Goldstein that God the Father had impregnated her with his Holy Spirit and she was about to give birth to the Messiah immaculately.

The Prophet Muhammad had a scribe, and he dictated his prophecies to the scribe and 50 years after the Prophet died the Muslim Bible Writers came up with the Muslim Holy Scriptures: The Hebrew Old Testament, The Christian New Testament and the Koran. Perhaps they did not notice that in the Old Testament it says that the Messiah will kill every non Jew and the Christian New Testament says that the Messiah will kill every non Christian upon his arrival on a flying white horse from Heaven.

So, what separates Sunni Muslims from Shiite Muslims? God of Mount Sinai, in his very first commandment carved by Him personally in stone says, “Do not worship, bow down to or idolize or revere anyone on Earth.” The Muslims revere the Prophet Muhammad as the Christians revere the Prophet Jesus as the Jews revere Knicks tickets and corned beef sandwiches on rye with kimel, Jesus’ favorite dish. The Prophet Muhammad had a son in law named Ali ibn Abi Talib aka Imam Ali. The Shiites believe that he was the leader of Islam after Muhammad, the proper successor to Muhammad, and follow his heirs. The Sunnis do not. They believe that the true successor of Muhammad was his lieutenant Abu (father of) Baker. Bob Dole is a UAE port lobbyist. Prior to Jesus usurping power from the Roman Gods and Goddesses upon his election as God at the Council of Nicaea 300 years after his death, the Roman Empire and the Greek Empire worshipped their own Gods and Goddesses including the Greek Goddess of Love Aphrodite renamed Venus by the Romans. I’m your Venus, I’m your fire, I’m your desire.

In the fairy tale, Uranus was castrated by his son Cronus. Jesus, the Prince of Peace says, “I have not come to bring you Peace, but the sword, to turn son against father..”. Uranus’ severed testicles fell into the sea and fertilized the ocean water which began to bubble and from the concoction was born an 18 year old naked Goddess Aphrodite. Venus was painted by Sandro Boticelli. You can pick the painting up on eBay for $325 million. They do accept Pay Pal. Jesus stars in his own cable show “Jesus and Pals” on South Fork. The New Testament does not contain one word of description of Jesus yet his likeness appears on the cross in every Catholic Church to scare the Hell out of every Catholic child. Jesus never said the word Hell in his life. Every time he says Sheol or Gehenna in the Holy Bible the modern Bible Writers substitute the word Hell to scare the Hell out of every Christian child. Fear and guilt are the classic brainwashing techniques. Gehenna was where the Jewish and non Jewish people sacrificed their first born children alive on fire altars 2,500 years ago just south of Jerusalem. Sheol was the place underground where both the good and the bad spirits went to live together after death according to Jesus Christ in the original Greek manuscripts of the New Testament.

According to the Shi’a Muslims depictions of Muhammad are verboten. According to the Sunni Muslims they are allowed. This controversy stirred up by the cartoon is the root of the now exploding Iraq civil war. Cartoons are a form of art as old as hieroglyphics and paintings by our ancestors on cave walls. After the last American Civil War there were cartoons of carpetbaggers being hung from trees and donkeys branded with the emblem KKK. The triple K’s were disgruntled Americans from the southern states numbering in the millions who crucified blacks, Jews and Catholics and set the crosses on fire less than 200 years ago. Our ancestors were sadistic and masochistic freaks and we are their clones. Don’t worry because soon it will all be over.

The only thing on Earth that sells better then sex is the right to commit murder and the Religions have the market cornered. Islam rewards the murder of Christians and Jews with eternal paradise in Heaven with God and 72 virgins, crystal clear springs and unlimited wine with no side effects. (Koran Sura 9:29-30, Sura 56). Jesus is soon returning to throw all of the non Christians into the fire and to Rapture the Christians into Paradise for doing this for him. (Matthew 13:36-43). The Jewish Messiah is coming soon to smash every non believer into a million pieces like a potter’s vessel and conquer the world for the Jews. (Psalm 2). Every single nuclear scientist knows that nuclear world war III and its aftermath nuclear winter then ultraviolet summer will have zero survivors. The only way for us to survive is through world peace. The Temple of Love – The World Peace Religion, makes Peace among and unites Christianity, Islam, Judaism and everyone else by tying them together with their common threads and resolving all of their differences once and for all. The problem is that selling Peace to bloodthirsty Earthlings massacring innocent children because fairy tales command them to is like trying to teach great white sharks not to eat fish. At least they don’t eat pork.
