With the hundreds of betting sites available, more people are placing bets online than ever before. In years passed, you needed to find a bookie, either a legally illegally, to place a bet. Now there are hundreds of sites that will take your bets legally.

Finding a quality site to place your bets on is very easy. Do a simple Google search and go with one of the more popular sites. These sites have thousands of users and wouldn’t still be running if they were not legitimate.

The next step is finding great betting advice. If anyone has ever tried betting without the advice of a professional, you probably know how difficult it is to win bets. Many people think because they are huge sports fans that is going to translate into a great betting career, but it simply is not true.

When looking for professional advice, you need to be wary of scams. When you find a site, make sure you read through the entire page. This will give you a better feel about the service and its legitimacy. Some key features to be on the lookout for are a support system, a help section and a professional appearance.

This support system should have an email address and hopefully a phone number that will connect you to staff personnel so you can have any questions answered. The help section will also answer any questions you may have as well as assist you in navigating the website. If the website appears professionally done and you have your questions answered through a help section or by a staff member, the advice site is probably legitimate and one you should consider.

It’s incredibly important to sign up with a great advice site because it is nearly impossible to consistently win bets on your own.

Is Twitter The New Facebook?

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you probably have already heard about Twitter. Or, perhaps, like millions of people, you’ve for many years already, been quietly twitting your way out of boredom.

What makes Twitter special? will Twitter replace Facebook? Did we need another web concept and will Twitter even survive?

Why Twitter?
Just when I’d painstakingly completed my migration from MySpace to Facebook, and started thinking Facebook was here to stay, in comes Twitter with its silly fast-scrolling messages and everybody around me seems to just love them.

Will Twitter replace Facebook?

The Twitter concept is slightly different from Facebook and will probably not – at least for now – completely replace it. But then, as with most things on the internet, on cannot really predict.

I suspect most users simply join to see what the hype is about. The key factor for Twitter’s survival is to let users find a reason to stick around longer after the fad.

Live faster, die younger

As most cyberspace innovators will readily admit, the internet is a tough place. The one moment you believe you’ve come up with the best widget of recent history: people all over the world are downloading and just loving it. The next moment, out of nowhere, some 24-year old, working late at night on his PC comes up with a cooler, smarter concept. Just as suddenly as you came, out you go, you and your stuff, in the cyber-wilderness, to join others who came before you.

Does anyone remember Boo.com, Heat.net and Nupedia? Back in the early days of internet, these were talk of town. The internet concept itself was new and even the silliest concept seemed to have a following. As suddenly as they came, one after another, they quietly joined the internet graveyard, where they still sleep.

Even today’s internet giants are somewhat vulnerable. Can anyone predict how long Google and Yahoo will be around for? Will they even be remembered in a few years’ time? All it takes for Google to head for cyber wilderness is a niftier internet search algorithm.

Will Twitter survive?

Will the current Twitter craze last? How long shall we have to bear the harmless irritation of fast-scrolling sms messages? Will Twitter grow so fast that it will implode? The simple truth is that no-one knows. Anyone who claims the contrary is certainly talking through their backside.

Twitter has gained in popularity in the past few months, especially with geeks around the country. The problem is geeks typically have the attention span of a fly. no-one can predict what will attract their attention, and more importantly, for how long.

Perhaps, with Twitter as with most new technology concepts, the real question should be, what’s next?

A look at how you can use Twitter to enhance your personal branding efforts on the Internet. Continue reading →

After just 3 years since its creation, Twitter has taken off as one of the most popular social media platforms. Opportunities for personal branding have increased and businesses and individuals are taking advantage of developing mainstream status using this tool. With Twitter, the potential reach of our personal brands is wider, but given its mass use the world over, it is harder to gain recognition.

Ashton Kutcher has proved the power of Twitter as a personal branding tool – as it stands, he has 2 109 454 followers. He constantly updates his status and gives insight into his and his wife, Demi Moore’s life. He even tweeted a picture of the lovely Ms. Moore in her undies – this subsequently went viral on the net and resulted in an increase in followers. He has since spoken on the topic of Twitter on the Oprah Show and in various TV interviews.

Twitter can be whatever YOU want it to be! In his case, Ashton Kutcher needed global popularity to increase his pulling power at the box office. You may, however, want to use Twitter to gain loyal followers who are ready to connect with you, your brand or your knowledge.

You need to decide what you want out of social networking – do you want to increase numbers or further your field of engagement? You then need to decide what kind of presence you would like to establish – whether you are a personal connector or a broadcaster.

Personal branding is all about perception and what people are going to associate with you. Nowadays, with the emergence of social media platforms, people prefer to connect with other people rather than with a corporate brand. Branding is a way to make yourself memorable, whether you are an individual or a company.

When it comes to personal branding on Twitter, there are some things you should keep in mind.

1. Listen to the online conversation and participate – you will be able to use tools like Twitter search to distinguish between the “signal and the noise”. By finding out what the “signals” are, you will find opportunities to engage in the conversations. Another way for companies to encourage participation in this new communication medium is to use Twitter to hold contests.

2. Your content shapes your brand – what you choose to tweet will shape your brand on Twitter. Be aware that once you tweet, your content will be out there for people to find forever.

3. Build a community – just like Mr. Kutcher who found an audience that is interested in what he had to offer through his tweets. The chances are, your market is already out there on Twitter – by building an online presence, you will be able to engage with your niche market.

4. Always look to expand your visibility – you will be able to expand your visibility if you make a conscious effort to make yourself visible to the right group of people and influencers. Twitter is only one channel of social media, tools like LookupPage and Google Profiles can further your audience reach and visibility.

5. Build and nurture relationships – as a broadcasting tool, Twitter is great when it comes to reaching thousands of people in one swoop. It also makes you and your brand more reachable. Engage and respond to tweets directed at you, ask questions and answer them.

Twitter is not the only tool that can assist your personal branding efforts – there are various other channels that can help you establish and monitor your online brand identity. By enhancing your personal branding efforts with tools such as LookupPage and Twitter, you will gain a competitive advantage over others who offer similar services and encourage more people to talk about you.

It worked for Ashton Kutcher, now make it work for you.

I am sure you use Twitter. If you are not using Twitter, you should register and start using it. After all, this is what most online networkers would have done. People use Twitter as a medium for marketing, communication and promotion.

These days, you can even use Twitter to search for things you want to know. From elections to deaths and gossips, there is a little something you can find in Twitter, almost as if Twitter is the new Google Search Engine.

Twitter is also inspiring many people to develop new applications related to Twitter in a way to benefit more people on the internet. From searching for similar interests people in Twitter to checking active and inactive users on Twitter.

How do you keep up with the topics that interest you? For example, you want to know what is going on in the writing industry. You can search for the keyword ‘writing’ and Twitter will compile a list of all ‘writing’ related twits so you can look for something new every day. The best thing is you can save your search so the next time you want to look for the same thing, just click on the sidebar.

If you have a blog, Twitter is the best platform to promote or market your blog to a wider audience. Why? It is because you can arrange to have Twitter automatically twit about your new blog posts whenever you update your blog. This way, you will get a few fast clicks to your blog throughout the day. If someone likes your posts, they might retweet your twit so that their readers can read about it too.

The point of Twitter is to meet new people and communicate. Surely you have a few followers. Why not send a message to them or reply to their twits? It is easy to spark a conversation by replying with the normal @twitteruser format. I am sure you have seen it in action.

Twitter is indeed the latest marketing tool you need for your business. Even if you are not using it for business purpose, you can still keep in touch with your friends and family easily.

There are a lot of things you need to know about Twitter and the many money-making practices being done through it before actually using the service to increase web traffic and overall sales for your own online business. This article is going to enlighten not only the truths about how to make money twitter but the tips and effective strategies in actually turning Twitter traffic into actual sales. If you think using Twitter to make money isn’t working for you, most likely it is because you were misled into thinking that this famous micro-blogging service works just like the ads you see in other websites or in search engines like Google and Yahoo. It’s time to change the strategies and adopt new tips and steps in earning money through Twitter, and that time starts now.

How to Make Money Out of Twitter

1.	The first thing that you have to remember is that Twitter is a social networking website dedicated to connecting people all throughout the world with simple, 140-character updates called “tweets”. This means that directly monetizing the site’s services will not only jeopardize your chances of gaining more customers but will also make others feel that your only purpose is to make money through Twitter.

2.	With that said, try to get to know people first by posting in your Twitter profile tweets about your day, yourself, how things went for you at the grocery store, and many others. You can then start following other people, friends or strangers, who you think share the same interests as you.

3.	People you have followed are more or less going to follow your own Twitter updates as well, so to keep the connection going you need to update your Twitter profile by tweeting at least once or twice a day. This way, people will be interested in what’s going on in your life and would even reply to some of your updates with their own comments. If this happened to you already, congratulate yourself because you’re building relationships already.

4.	So how do you keep your followers interested in what you have to say? By tweeting all kinds of content that would catch their attention. You can post videos, pictures from Flickr, quizzes and polls from Facebook, and all kinds of other interesting stuff that’ll get people to read your tweets a whole lot more. You can also do the same for others by commenting on their content as well.

5.	Lastly, after building a few good and stable relationships with Twitter buddies, you can then begin seeping in Twitter updates that are related to your career as an internet marketer. You can introduce your online business first and add a link or two to some pages of your website that people will find interesting to read through. Most likely those who find you trustworthy and reliable will take a look at what you have to offer, and if all goes well, they might even sign up under your mailing list.

Are you making the most effective use of Twitter online or are you simply nonsensical tweeter? Continue reading →

If you haven’t heard about the micro-blogging and web 2.0 social media marvel named Twitter, you might be hiding under a rock. For those of you that don’t know, Twitter is a phenomenal way of joining into a social media community and connecting with others by updates or ‘Tweets’ at no more than 140 characters at a time. This is by no means a beginner guide to Twitter, so if you feel you need more on this, just enter Twitter help into your search friend Google. This post is actually about how you can harness the power of networking of Twitter to maybe brand yourself or your offline or online business.

What I love about Twitter is that it hasn’t turned into this huge capitalistic machine that simply uses giant traffic to monetize itself yet. In other words, it’s not full of ads like some social media sites as of yet. However, like any social media site, you need to get used to certain users that do nothing but Spam you with worthless messages.

Contributions – Your keys to success with Twitter

Instead of using Twitter as simply a time waster or micro Tweet everything under the sun, you want to instead use it to bring value to your followers. When you show values in your Tweets, then you really get listened to and can connect with the right audience. What is the best way to connect with your peer audience? Simply do a search for members on Twitter that are tweeting about a certain topic. If you are an expert on this topic, you should go ahead and follow those users tweeting on the subjects you want to engage in. By following the right users, the SEO power of Twitter kicks in. Great users will notice and actually follow you back if you have good things to say or bring some value that they like. Always remember to tweet off a subject that you are knowledgeable on. For example, if you went are a time management consultant in your offline business, you should be tweeting on value based subjects that include time management.

Grow your Audience on Twitter

The best and most effective way of growing your audience on Twitter is to keep bringing a valuable contribution everyday. For example, if you are a time management consultant (like above), you could hold a teleseminar on the best time management tips and generate leads for your business that way. For effective follows to happen, the people you follow should also be bringing value. If not, unfollow those people because they will be a waste of tweet space. If you had say a time management blog, you could for example, post a video on your blog about how effective time management could free up more hours in your day or even allow you to get a raise because of your new found skill set, and then direct your followers to an online or offline resource of yours. This brings networking relationships to the fore front and actually positions you as an expert. There are many ways of bringing value to your followers and branding yourself, you just need to think a little outside the realm of tweeting with no real value.

Twitter Techniques

Most people that get started with Twitter get started from a standpoint of making Twitter a social time-waster. They just tweet about nothing in general with no real purpose. ‘I’m tying my shoes’ is a perfect example of a great way to lose followers. The first technique is the easiest which is simply ‘Broadcasting’ your Tweets. This method is when you just simply do a general tweet and all your followers get to see what you’ve updated them with, the second and less known technique is ‘Networking’. The networking method involves replying to someone you are following and responding to them with something of value. For example, a random tweeter of yours posts that he finds comfort in the art of painting for relaxation, you could then reply to that person’s tweet, “Like there is nothing like meditation and personal winding down for relaxing”. That person will usually see your post and possibly reply to your tweet – this is a good way of networking and building some value and showing you are not a random tweeter.

Another technique involves Retweeting other’s posts if you find them valuable. If you retweet a post, all your followers see it and also the original tweeter, this in effect builds some trust in the mind of the original tweeter to you. They are usually thankful that you retweeted their tweet and you will usually get their respect.

By building a target audience like this and also showing credibility on Twitter, you will at some point have a snowball effect because you are bring a lot of value to the table and branding yourself online.

It’s hard to believe that Facebook has grown to its magnitude within five years of being online. Then again, it still isn’t the youngest social media contributor on the market.

Twitter, a microblogging site that allows users to post “tweets” of 140 characters or less, has established itself as one of the quickest information-retrieval platforms on the web – and it hasn’t celebrated its 4th birthday yet.

The idea of Twitter is quite simple: bring the notion of mobile SMS to the internet. The cell phone market was noticing a steep decline in voice communication and a giant increase in text messaging and instant messaging. The users were yearning for an arena where opinions and breaking news alike could be shared and quickly retrieved.

Facebook’s initial use among users was to establish online connections and build a personal brand. Unlike today, Facebook was not as focused on its “news feed,” but instead the community of colleges and the ability to meet people within your network.

Twitter stepped in and took over the real-time information aspect of social media, something that even news websites had failed to execute. The witnesses and participants of events were now ‘tweeting’ their experiences as they were happening, giving audiences pure insight and uncensored content.

With the growth of Facebook and Twitter, there seems to be a resounding question among different sects of users. Facebook followers wonder, “Why do I need a Twitter,” while Twitter followers ask “Why do I need the extra aspects of Facebook when I only participate in the News Feed connections?”

Twitter has grown into a ‘Facebook lite’ of sorts, with the integration of Twitpics and other media-capable enhancements. Twitter users frequently bring up the lack of personal security through Facebook, while noticing the increased attention placed on advertisement targeting. Recently, Twitter’s own advertisement platform layout has been discussed and will be deployed in the near future.

If Twitter is so similar to Facebook, why bother participating in both?

It’s pretty simple – a heavy social media presence is a consistent one. Although there are great populations on Facebook and Twitter, there are various content consumption ratios. A Facebook user may find more useful content geared toward the community-feel of Facebook, but turn to Twitter for up-to-date world news. The art of full scale discussion (which Google Buzz has recently tried to tackle) is one that Facebook has owned for some time now with Twitter acting more as an information hub. Nevertheless, the two platforms require a persistent mind and unwavering attention, especially when considering social interactions with personal content.

Twitter has found its user growth to be shrinking recently. Some speculate that the excitement and luster are beginning to dissipate, while others claim that Twitter is reaching its user threshold. With such a come-and-go platform built on the premise of fast-acting information, will Twitter sustain an active community or will its services fall to the wayside with more media sites using real-time information retrieval?

Although Twitter feels like a lose end waiting to be tied, its unusually exponential worldwide growth will sustain its community and – more importantly – create a connection among audiences that neither Facebook nor any other median can come close to reaching.

I hadn’t expected a reply to a recent tweet post made regarding cupcakes. In a moment of good humor, considering my recent weight loss, I posted to my account a link to a news story about pastry giant Cinnabon branching into the cupcake business. Given my weakness for cupcakes and the potential damage they do to my diet, I let forth a curt vent (“Damn you, Cinnabon!) followed by the link. Later that day, to my shock, I received an @replay from the official Cinnabon Twitter.

Just goes to show, people with brands do monitor what is being said, even in jest, and may be inclined to follow-up. While many of us can page the likes of Conan O’Brien, Demi Moore, and the host of other celebrities and bigwigs using this social network, the odds of finding a reply or – gasp – a direct message may be slim. As a business using Twitter to market products and services, however, you have a golden opportunity to reach consumers who share their feedback, or else put out feelers for information relevant to your company. Succeeding in Twitter marketing involves not only tracking those people, but communicating in a manner that doesn’t come off like a hard sell.

Tracking on Twitter

As you monitor the performance of keywords that bring visitors to your main site, it would make sense to track those same phrases on Twitter to gauge overall interest in products and services relevant to your brand. Whether you cater to local or national markets, you have the means to search what people are tweeting without necessarily refreshing Twitter’s search engine. E-mail, web-based and desktop clients allow for ease of researching multiple key phrases, and many of them are free.

TweetDeck, a popular desktop client that can collect the feeds of multiple social media accounts, may be set up to run feeds of a specific nature. Simply add a new column to the screen and program a search. Choose the keywords, and watch the results.

To receive Twitter searches via e-mail, TweetBeep offers the means to track the activity you want to browse. Similar to Google Alerts, TweetBeep delivers the information directly to your inbox. This is handy tool to use if you want alerts sent to your phone.

The popular web-based program Monittor presents up to three real-time feeds of key searches. One advantage to Monittor is that is permits for geotargeting – you can search tweets within a specific distance of any city, and RSS capability allows you to aggregate the results into your favorite reader. Twitter itself offers a similar method of tracking in its widget functionality, where one can create an ongoing feed of trending tweets, though geographical parameters cannot be set.

Once you’ve determined how to find potential consumers and clients through Twitter, there comes the challenge of approaching them. Just because a Twitter user does not protect his/her feed from public view doesn’t necessarily mean an invite to relentless hustling. If you see an opportunity to recommend your products and services to somebody who appears to want them, you don’t want to give the impression that your Twitter account is used mainly to distribute ad copy.

Engage the tweeter first with a question for confirmation. Are they looking for what you have to sell…are the specific designs or benefits they want? Would they be interested in a discount if they ordered online? Can you answer any questions they might have? Don’t let the distance of a computer screen distract you from the fact that behind that Twitter avatar is a human being who is social, and may likely use Twitter to recommend you in the future.

Using widgets and search clients to help with leads can cut your Twitter research time significantly, giving you more time to perfect your social media skills.

Yahoo! – the world’s third largest website and second largest search engine announced that it has clinched a deal with Twitter to share content across both properties.

Yahoo! has more than 600 million users around the world – all of them will be able to update all of their social networks in a simple step. Anyone with a Yahoo! ID can check their e-mail can update their Twitter feeds through e-mail and news, which allows them to stay up-to-date with information and people. Yahoo! users will also see real-time Twitter updates on various topics while browsing, ranging from news, finance, sports and entertainment sites. It believes that this will increase user engagement and create opportunities for publishers, advertisers and developers.

Not long back, Yahoo! also reached a similar agreement with Facebook, increasing the partnership to make it easier for users to share Facebook status updates and other information on Yahoo or share Yahoo sports scores or Flickr photos on Facebook. This partnership will take effect later on this year.

But the recent Twitter and Yahoo! deal goes beyond the past deals Twitter has with Bing and Google. Here is a short summary of how Yahoo! is getting cozier with Twitter:

1. Users can now access Twitter feeds from anywhere in Yahoo!

Yahoo’s has a huge range of products starting from the homepage to e-mail, sports etc. People will be able to access their tweets from a variety of Yahoo platforms and products. So they are updated with information while surfing Yahoo.

2. Send Twitter updates from Yahoo!

Users will also be able to update their Twitter status messages and share content from Yahoo. Easy sharing of Yahoo information and an option of updating statuses will be a big boost to Yahoo traffic.

3. Real-time public Twitter updates appearing in Search (and other media properties)

Yahoo Search, Finance, Entertainment, Sports, and News will now also feature real-time Twitter status updates from people across innumerable topics. This is much more than what Google features at the moment. This feature is the most interesting one.

This is a great deal for Yahoo and Twitter both. Yahoo recently also announced its search deal with Microsoft. And definitely Yahoo has leapfrogged both Google and Microsoft in their Twitter integration deals. We can now say that Yahoo has responded to Google Buzz in an interestingly different manner altogether.
